witty, catchy, clever pop music
Penny Broadhurst is a singer and songwriter, based in Leeds in West Yorkshire, UK.
Penny is known for writing sharp lyrics, showcasing her unique voice and world view. She believes in hooks, harmonies and all-out pop music, and hates it when all the songs sound the same. Her Allons-y! EP was released in September 2007. You can buy it from this very website, in the shop.
Penny has played Wireless, Latitude, Truck, Moor Music, Solfest, Ladyfest and Glastonbury festivals and been played on BBC Radio 1, Xfm, BBC 6 Music, Radio Magnetic etc as well as local and internet radio stations. She was shortlisted by the BBC World Service for their Next Big Things of 2007. Penny has also performed on BBC Radio 4.
Penny is currently working on an album at the Soundmill studio in Leeds with Hightone Productions, working title A Little More Sonic, and she is looking for a good manager. Gigs are nice too - though not if you run ticklists or ask how many she'll pull as that's a quick way to annoy and you'll get a lecture about DIY promotion.

"Gorgeous stuff." "She hasn't got a record deal but she sounds like an established act to me. I can see why she calls herself the Queen of Pop." "Great DIY sound and I officially predict Penny Broadhurst will be a household name by 2009, if not sooner." "Extremely creditable...wry and melodic."
