From the Norman Records new releases round-up

"If you're into feminist poetry (which we all are here) then check out Penny Broadhurst as she has a CD out of reasonably intelligent arty modern prose with some beats behind the angry words. There you go. Not the kind of thing we normally sell but we like to give you all the option of getting something different. Next week we may have some powdered drinks for sale like sachets of hot chocolate etc or maybe some small snacks like fun size mars bars... Who knows"

Stockists updated

Newly updated list of stockists, linked from the front page of the site

Blue Bank is now also available from Crash (Leeds) and Norman Records (mail/internet order). If you are not based in the UK and therefore can't use my webshop, check out the Norman site - if you can't see Blue Bank listed, it's because they haven't updated the site yet, but you can still order through the site, phone, fax or mail.

You can also check out the album on the listening post at Leeds City Library, or get it out of the library and give it a trial run before committing cash.*

*libraries are ace, but don't just CD-R it, think of the lovely artwork and cold, starving artist (waiting for her tea and the money to fix the boiler) and buy a real copy once you've heard it

Little review of Bus Park

From a comment here, about the Superburst Mixtape on which Bus Park features:

Microreview! Track 1's a spoken-word piece about being a smart kid among the drones. Nicely worded, very nicely performed. Also I like the mention of "Grauniad".

New site up and running - and Blue Bank is released!

This is the first "official" post on this news blog, earlier posts were just reposts of mailouts as an experiment. Welcome to the Penny Broadhurst news blog, then.

The gigs in Stockton, Sheffield and York went brilliantly. You can read a review of the Stockton gig here, courtesy of the BBC Tees website. The York gig was an Aesthetica benefit for tsunami victims and raised over £400. Well done to all who took part - performers and gig-goers.

You may have noticed that my website has undergone a dramatic overhaul and now looks decidedly prettier and less...blue. Well, this is to coincide with the real big news...

BLUE BANK, my album, has finally been released!
You can buy copies from my webshop if you are in the UK, from Jumbo in the St. John's Centre if you are in Leeds and at gigs for now. We're in the process of despatching copies to other distributors and the list of stockists will be updated with links and addresses as and when.

Go back to the main site for more information and keep checking here for updates.
