Spoken Word (including buy links)

Before getting into music, Penny started out in the less than fashionable world of spoken word, She quickly ditched the poetry and spoken word circuit for gigs supporting bands and comedians, figuring that the best plan was to play events she was going to enjoy with people she liked. People like Patrick Wolf, Das Wanderlust, Damo Suzuki, Robin Ince, Jo Neary and Frank Turner. In 2005 Penny released an album of spoken word with music (Blue Bank). which got some radio play and press attention. She went on to perform at a variety of festivals, and put a book out of lyrics and poems (That Way Out) in 2006. One of her poems was recorded for broadcast by Radio 4 in 2007.

Realising she could write choruses after all, Penny started writing pop songs and recording them in Leeds in Autumn 2006 with producers Ed Heaton and Si McGrath of Hightone Productions.

Her book and spoken word CD are still available from this page, bookshops (including Radish in Leeds) and Amazon.
